About Us

Jayla's Community Outreach was initially formed in 2003 in response to an increasing number of struggling single unemployed mothers and fatherless children approaching homelessness throughout Southeast Michigan. JCO was re-established in 2013 to focus Wayne County Michigan. JCO provides emergency food, clothes, school supplies, utility payments, household items, hygiene products, care kits, referrals and follow-up services. We believe the board of directors and staff members of our program have the knowledge, talent and determination needed to positively affect our community one family at a time.

In 2017, a decision was made to begin extending JCO services to Arizona, with a focus on Maricopa County. In 2019 JCO began servicing low income women and children in the metro Phoenix and surrounding areas. JCO now serves low income families, low income veterans and foster children residing in Maricopa County Arizona and Wayne County Michigan.

At JCO, we believe that diversity and inclusion are fundamental to our mission of empowering low income families and veterans. Our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment reflects our deep respect for diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that make our community vibrant and resilient. We are dedicated to ensuring that our staff, volunteers, and board members reflect the diverse communities we serve.
